Unlike for-profit networks that house your data on privately owned servers, your information on the Pietra network is stored over the cloud managed by other Pietra Citizens. Each Citizen that is broadcasting private data only has a small portion of that data, and cannot see what that data chunk is. Because of this design we as a Republic protect your data by rights and permissions. These permissions are only unlocked through a civil process in an in-network civilian trial that governs the specifics of your data.

Pietra creates a robust networking economy. Unlike today's networks which are privately owned and publicly accessed, Pietra's network is an actual public computing platform made up by our citizens. This develops a fair economy and ensures that we have rights for our citizens.

In today's network design, large companies incur high costs due to large servers and to justify that cost they collect your data to sell to companies for a profit or charge brands to advertise. In the Pietra system, Citizens own their personal data and are free to sell it, or not, gaining the profits from their own involvement-- with out ads!

Citizens rights are the central design principal, not the maximization of profits. Rather than having your private data stored on a company computer, Pietra Citizen data is designed to be robust and permissive. You control your data. Citizen first design protects users while still allowing distributed application access with permissions : to create things like music queues and video suggestions-- without your data tracked and owned by third parties.

As a Pietra citizen you track all your own transactions and keep a record of your involvement with the system. This record becomes a digital thumb print and on the Pietra Network this data is yours to control. Since data is truly private on the Pietra network your records are yours to do as you wish, which can even include selling your interactions on the market. Your data is yours, only you have access to it, and it is considered sovereign. No one is collecting mass data to use against you, yet you have control of your data to help create profiles and tailor-made experiences without the loss of privacy.

Social Media, Civil Media, and REPRESENTATIVES

While anyone is free to download a Pietra node, full access to the network will require proof of identification from your community, both online and in-person. Your ID is confirmed and stored in the network to create a unique User-Hash from the confirmed ID assets: Photo, Video, Voice. Combined with the Hashes of your confirmations, you create a unique Citizen-ID that you own and control.

Your first interactions in Pietra will set you up with your initial confirmed Id network reference. This is your Networked Rep: the person who helps in signing-up and confirming you as a new citizen. They can assist you get your bearings, serve as your initial Pietran point of contact, and help you participate in Pietran society. Who knows, maybe you will become a Representative yourself?

The History of the Republic

The Republic has a long history going all the way back to ancient Greece, being essential in the formation of the United States of America and tying into the French Revolution. Pietra seeks to continue in that great tradition of self-determination of the nation as the daughter of the American and French Republics. We echo the articles first written in the American Declaration of Independence in 1776, re-stated in the French Declaration of The Rights of Man and Citizen in 1789, and evoloved again in The Declaration of the Rights of Woman and the Female Citizen in 1791.

Article I – Men and Women are born and remain free and equal to man and woman in rights. Social distinctions can be founded only on the common utility.
Article II – The goal of any political association is the conservation of the natural and imprescriptible rights of man and woman. These rights are liberty, property, safety and resistance against oppression.
Article III – The principle of any sovereignty resides essentially in the Nation. No body, no individual can exert authority which does not emanate expressly from it.

The Future of the republic

The future holds many challenges and we need to consider how to move forward together while holding onto our National Values. Automation and Artificial intelligence create new issues for our society and economy that in it's current structure cannot be correctly handled because of the development and sale of for-profit cultural functions.

Organizing Pietra as a value-based Republic, protect us from the power of Pietra if it was organized under different motivations and intentions that can become skewed when pushed to the extreme, specifically the For-Profit motivation.

Pietra is a Republic set up to be a responsible container for AI and automation, and to provide a new type of Libre-market based on Gratis software. As our ancestors have already pointed out "common utility" should be our goal, and AI, automation, and technological advancement should be created for public, common utility first, then for the use of businesses and for-profit enterprise. Thus, at Pietra we believe the national model is the best for achieving this goal, and the Republic is the best national model.
